Interview with Kim Jeffrey Kurniawan

It's been a while since the last time I've updated my blog 3 months ago. But from now on at least once a week I will try to update this blog for the sake of my passion in Indonesian Football.

Back to football matter, finally I've got a chance to interviewing a young player who has Indonesian heritage. From what I've seen from the 2 Charity Games in Malang and Surabaya, Kim has a great vision to read the game, he knows when is the right time to pass the ball or to hold and dribble the ball. So anyway, Thanks to technology these days that I didn't have to buy a plane ticket to Germany to do the interview, instead I just wrote him a bunch of questions via email and voila! here is the questions and the answers:

I=Interviewer (which is me)
KJK=Kim Jeffrey Kurniawan

I:Hi Kim, Can you tell us a bit about your football careers?
KJK: Ok, I started playing football at the age of 4, When I was 6 I joined a soccer camp in which a big club saw me so I joined Karlsruher SC and played my whole junior career there. Unfortunately in my last year I got a big knee injury so the chance to play in the first or second division in Germany was over and I joined FC 07 Heidelsheim.

I:Can you tell us your greatest moments in Football?
KJK:I will split it in the moment in germany and indonesia. In Germany was my greatest moment the games against FC Bayern München in my junior career.And in Indonesia my greatest moment was the two charity games in Malang and Surabaya with all big young players in indonesia. I was very proud to participate in this games.

I:Who is your biggest inspiration in football?
KJK: A friend of mine influences me very much. He was a great player, 4 years older than me in the youth he always trained with me but sadly he died a few years ago in a car accident so before a game I always think of him and pray that he give me power and his skills to play a good match.

I: Why do you want to play in Indonesian League when you have a chance to have a better career in Europe?
KJK: It was always a dream of mine to play and to live in my fathercountry! I feel more indonesian than german, so I really want to play in the indonesian league.

I: Is there any other players playing in Germany that has Indonesian Heritage?
KJK: I never heard from another football players with indonesian descents who live and play in Germany.

I: Where do you see your self 3 years from now?
KJK: In 3 years I still want to play in indonesia, I hope in a big team and I want to play in the timnas to support the indonesian football. I hope in 2011 I can participate the SEA Games with the u23-timnas. I will show everybody my skills and my talents and I hope I can be an idol for young people in indonesia.

I: Is there any Indonesian players at the moment that you think has a chance to play in Europe? if yes, who are they?
KJK: I already met some players in the charity game and the 3 players who impressed me the most was Atep, Eka Ramdani and Bustomi. I'm sure if they get a chance they cnan play in Europe.

I: Last question, do you have any advice for young Indonesian football players?
KJK: The most important thing for football players is the youth, at the age of 10-14 you learn the basics so it's very important to have a good training at this age. In Germany we have many excellent football and soccer junior camps. Indonesia have to work on this, because there are many talented players all over in Indonesia. When I'm old and there are still these conditions I will work for the youth and give everybody a chance to live the dream of being a football player, too.

I: Thank you, Kim. And get well soon.
KJK: You are welcome, If you have any other questions feel free to ask them all :)

There you go guys, a short interview with Kim Jeffrey Kurniawan. Hope you guys enjoyed it. And last but not least Big Thanks to Kim for his time to answered my questions.
